11-30-18 (20 Point Debate Blog)

Today in Human Geo, we had a debate and I went into with a blank mind, ready a learn. I learned some really interesting things that struck me the most was the Trump Immigration policy that would keep immigrants in Mexico instead being put in asylums and I really liked that. I think that one of the major problems is that the asylum system is from what i can tell in development so sometimes things go wrong. So of those examples are the splitting of parents and their kids, this could be saved if we make a agreement to let them stay in Mexico until the time for their case to be heard. I know its the best but its still a compromise, if your a immigrant from Mexico it just returns you to the problems but countries like Venezuela could benefit from it. As i can tell Venezuela faces a lot of problems and is a country crumpling to nothing. So Venezuelan immigrants could seek homage in Mexico until they can get into the USA. I also learned from the podcast that Trump stop allowing immigrants suffering of Gang Violence or Domestic Violence to be allowed in through Asylum. However it took me a little while. I can see both sides of the argument. On the spectrum of Gang Violence, if the person suffering from Gang Violence has or had Gang Affiliation how do we know they are safe enough to be allowed into the country? Especially if they were once apart of MS-13. But on the other side, aren't we supposed to be a beacon of hope for the suffering? The Country of Opportunity? With Domestic Violence many good points were made, especially one Belle made. She talked about how many of the cases made on the news today are for domestic violence and some are not legit? They are just people searching for fame or money through the successful? So why couldn't that be the case with Immigrants? Using domestic violence as a gateway to escape the problems they gave themselves in their native home? However, you can argue we are in a generation where women have a voice, and they are beginning to speak out and have the confidence to talk about sensitive topics such as domestic violence? Again the beacon of hope we are supposed to be needs to come into play. Last i think the point I made still sticks with me, after the podcast Mr. Schick asked if we thought if it was biased or who we thought made the podcast. I feel like it started out balance but they eventually stopped supporting Trump as much and were talking against his antics. This made me think, as a student getting older an older learning more and more about Politics....is the news a valid way of learning about Politics? The news is seemingly going so far right and left that its hard to find what is legit or not? The news gets altered to make it seem so much worse or better to just fit a certain side. So can we really trust what the news says about Trump and immigration? Because aren't witnessing first hand what is happening. Its just difficult for me to grasp and I hope we do more of this because i like learning and having a voice.

11-29-18

Today in class, Mr. Schick presented an idea to us that we talked about for the whole fifty minutes. He asked if we would be able to handle a discussion as a class on Migration. It would work by splitting up people who were "Pro-Trump" and "Anti-Trump". We told him we could handle it. I know a little bit about politics, not much but some. I would consider myself more of a conservative but at the same time I'm 15 and i don't know a lot. So when Mr. Schick asked if i was pro or anti Trump. I kinda just said i was neutral, yeah some of my friends were split on each side, but i don't know enough to make a stand on my choice or opinion. So I'm going into next class with an open mind and it will be interesting to see what side a choose or if i do choose one at all.

Today in class we touched on the same topic of migration but we used guided notes. I thought this was very helpful as me being able to highlight in the text really helps in most of my classes. I really like how Mr. Schick has class discussions with this topic instead of me just copying stuff or would be lost, so that is really helpful.

Today in class we got our tests back and we looked over them. Most people did very well and i was proud of my 92 percent. I have my grade at a good place with a 95 and i feel confident. We then went over our next unit which is Migration. We did a lot of migration in our last unit and i feel very confident in my test. However, i think i have to start to study for my mid term or i am going to do terrible.

Today in Class we took a surprise quiz worth 20 points. I feel very very confident that i got a hundred percent. I honestly hope we do nothing for the rest of class cause i do not feel good and i really dont wanna do anything for the rest of the class. Human Geo and English are my worst grades for me so i really wanna get my grades up

11-19-18

Today in class we did a pop quiz on the 3 video we watched in class. However we were really confused so he took the 50 minutes to explain it to us. Its kinda crazy to think that about 200 years ago everyone was at about the same power. It shows that time can change quickly and that in a short amount time any country could be at the top. Its also scary to think that the USA wont be as powerful and thats scary but everything happens for a reason in gods path.

11-14-18

Today in Class we learned some more about the Demographic Transition and how it can make or break a countries population. We learned that there are many ways to stop the crude birth rate and one of those options is something called Contraception however many religions do not believe this method is 'god friendly' so it all depends on what Culture you found yourself in. This is very interesting because it tied in with exactly the topics went over to today the during assembly so yeah.

Today in Human Geo Class, while a couple of people took the test i already took (which i got a 92 on!) we were tasked with researching about Demographic Transition and jot down the facts on the blog. What did I find out? Demographic Transition is how the birth to death rate or Rate of Natural Increase (RNI) is effected as a country goes from being pre-industrial to industrial economically. Demographic transition basically says that the birth rate will continue to go down as the country gets more and more wealthy, which is why many predict the USA to become a cone population pyramid in the coming years and countries like Nigeria are having a significant higher amount of kids then other ages, because the country is not yet industrialized and still growing Economy

11-9-18

Today in Class we reviewed and learned a little bit more about what we have been learning in class before. I didnt feel like we touched on anything new to be honest and i don't know if we will. I'm really hoping that did well on the last test, however i know the key to getting an A in this class is to keep doing the blogs every-night. My notes have been very organized and layed out and i feel ready for whatever assignments are in my future.

11-8-18

Today in Class, Mr. Schick introduced us to the second half of the unit. We took the 1st part of the test on Wednesday to get ready for the full thing, We learned more about how to read maps of dense population. As in places like along the East Coast of the United States and African Nation, it was more red in color. This Symbolizes that there are more then 1000 people in a 1 kilometer by 1 kilometer radius. It very interesting to see how rapidly and exponentially the population on Earth is growing.

11-7-18

Today in Class we took our 3rd test. I have not done so well on the previous ones, however i hope i did good on this one. It will be interesting to see whats in store for the rest of the semester and what we will be learning about. I feel like a did pretty well, except for the fact that i could figure out how to find in the world fact book the US Crude oil facts, but hopefully i got the extra credit questions right so that will help. All and all I am feeling pretty good.

11-5-18

Today in Class we were told that we had a test on Wednesday and i really need to prepare myself for it, so tonight i am going to sit down and lay it all out and hope its enough to prepare for the test. I am not a very good test taker so doing the blogs is a crucial part of this quarter. Today during our lesson however we took a peak into the future and saw how the USA might turn into more of a Cup population than a Box. As the kids and the population slope will slowly start to decline. Thats kinda scary.

11-1-18

Today in Class Mr. Schick went over the 3 types of Population Pyramids. The Christmas tree shows the developing nation as the population is mostly younger kids, the shape of the graph would be a upside down cone or tree. The Box is mostly averaged out between all nations as a developed nation, somewhere like USA or Sweden, and the last is the cup as most people are in their 50s and its a nation on decline countries like Japan.
